eHealth Technologies, Rochester Regional team up to streamline imaging data interoperability
eHealth Technologies, providers of image-enabled Health Information Exchange (HIE) solutions, have partnered with the Rochester Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) to offer image data interoperability to 13 counties in New York.
RHIO has recently implemented eHealth Connect Image Exchange Transfer-to-PACS workflow, giving the radiology and cardiology departments access to all external imaging studies for their patients. Through the RHIO Explore portal, physicians are able to sort through the list of studies and transfer it into local PACS.
"We are thrilled to assist the Rochester RHIO by adding this new workflow to our eHealth Connect® Image Exchange suite of services," said Gary Larson, executive vice president of HIE Services. "Streamlining the delivery of external prior imaging studies by leveraging our integration with the HIE will have a significant impact on costs, efficiency, and quality of care for the hospitals and other care providers in the Rochester area."
The system updates automatically with the patient medical record number in the patient's records. The information is easily accessible to radiologists and cardiologists, improving the care process while containing costs.
"I really do love the Transfer-to-PACS workflow," said Diana Frillici, medical records and PACS administrator at Elizabeth Wende Breast Care in Rochester, New York. "It is much faster than using CDs and it is very convenient that the images go directly to the patient medical record, rather than having to reconcile the record after a patient's images are imported. We are looking forward to finding ways of working together with the Rochester RHIO to increase opportunities for use."
