drchrono and AppVisit Announce Integrated E-visits

Mountain View, Calif., July 21, 2014 – drchrono, the creator of a free Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform on the iPad, iPhone and cloud, and breakthrough virtual visit tool AppVisit®, have announced a brand new product integration.

Providers and their patients have used drchrono and AppVisit separately on their iPhones, Android devices, iPads and other tablets. Now, both parties will have easy access to both mobile e-visits and integrated records. This incorporation of AppVisit into drchrono EHR is a first for the medical industry, and signals a sea change for healthcare.

Studies show that 40% of in-office medical visits can be replaced by e-visits using smartphones and tablets. To that end, AppVisit facilitates e-visit technology using the “sensory extension” capabilities of smartphones – video, photographs, screen tracing, and questionnaires – which securely gather accurate data on their patients’ conditions. Unlike live video, AppVisit’s message-type dialogue (asynchronous) does not require the patient and doctor to schedule a time to meet.

In today’s medical environment, providers are expected to see patients cost effectively while maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction. But by utilizing e-visits, they can be more efficient, too: while the national average duration of an in-office visit is 14 minutes, doctors have found that most AppVisits take less than three minutes. Moreover, by using AppVisit in conjunction with drchrono, providers can deliver care whenever and wherever is convenient, and the new partnership makes patient record access easy. AppVisit’s patient-generated documentation is HIPAA secure and placed into drchrono with one touch, thus reducing the clerical burden for doctor and office staff alike.

“Since 2009, drchrono has been helping medical practices transition to the future of patient recordkeeping," says Daniel Kivatinos, drchrono’s COO & Co-Founder. "No more paper charting, clipboards, and doctors having to simply rely on memory for pertinent patient details. Instead, drchrono provides doctors and administrative staff the ability to collect and update patient information on-the-go using iPad, iPhone and web. This is one of the very first integrations of our API, which we developed to bring meaningful applications like AppVisit to doctors as part of the mobile EHR platform. It's a natural marriage for both companies."

"We couldn't be more pleased to team up with drchrono," says Lisa Serwin, CEO of AppMedicine, creators of AppVisit. "Our mission is to create easy-to-use software that makes providers more effective and patients more involved. This partnership with drchrono enables both parties to achieve excellent, efficient, and personalized care through e-visits."

Since its introduction this year, feedback on AppVisit from patients and providers has been overwhelmingly positive. Using the application, patients avoid lengthy appointment setup, phone tag with the doctor's office, and taking off work to drive to the doctor’s office – not to mention parking and waiting room time. Moreover, many patients report that using AppVisit to prepare for an in-person session resulted in a better, faster visit because they were prompted for complaint-specific information on their symptoms, medications, questions, and ancillary information they might otherwise forget to mention.
