Cleveland Clinic enlists 3M to aid ICD-10 transition
Cleveland Clinic health system will implement computer-assisted coding technology from 3M Health Information Systems to automate its inpatient and outpatient code transitions to ICD-10.
The provider will implement 3M Codefinder computer-assisted edition software, which analyzes and interprets text from multiple documentation sources, and then maps it to the logic-based coding paths of the 3M Coding and Reimbursement System.
The software improves coder productivity by reducing chart review time and helps coders identify missing information in the clinical documentation, according to 3M, of Salt Lake City.
3M Codefinder Auto Edition, a joint offering with CodeRyte that accelerates outpatient coding, will be used to import text from physician reports and assign codes using advanced natural language processing technology. Human coders will review the code and, upon approval, it will be exported to client billing systems.
