Brief covers ongoing health app regs debate

The FDA's final guidance for use of mobile health apps was released in September but some say more clarity is needed and others say formal guidance should be withheld until a congressionally mandated health IT framework is submitted in January. That's the position stated in a new Health Policy Brief from Health Affairs and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that explores the promise and challenges surrounding mobile health.

The report covers the types of mHealth, the benefits, what further guidance is needed and how regulations and use of these tools could play out next year and beyond.
