Allscripts Open App Challenge winners announced
Allscripts revealed the top five winners of its Open App Challenge which challenged developers to "Start a Revolution."
Healthfinch won the grand prize for its app that automates prescription renewal requests while ePREOP and Keona Health tied for second place. ePREOP provides scheduling and authorization tools to decrease unnecessary testing, enhance patient engagement, screen for high-risk conditions and enhance clinical decision support and discrete data transfer services between various health records in preparation for surgery. Keona Health’s app helps reduce time spent on unreimbursed medical phone calls.
Allscripts awarded two solutions, Genelex YouScript and eDoc4u, as the third place winners. Genelex YouScript provides tools to evaluate overall adverse drug event risk, identify at-risk patients and recommend drug regimens. eDoc4u captures patient health risk assessments, delivers evidence-based clinical analysis and risk summaries at point-of-care and creates personalized health programs.
More than 98 developers participated in the App challenge, which sought innovative applications that integrate directly with Allscripts open EHR software. Phase 1 award recipients were recognized at HIMSS13 last march; the challenge launched in late 2012.
"The winners of the Open App Challenge have put this innovation into practice at client sites, clearly demonstrating the benefits of an open, connected community of health," said Paul M. Black, president and chief executive officer of Allscripts, in a statement.
