ACR Image Metrix completes second year in operation

ACR Image Metrix, an imaging contract research organization based in Philadelphia, has just completed its second year of operation.

ACR Image Metrix--a developer of medical imaging trial design, techniques, data extraction, management and analysis--was launched as a for-profit division of the American College of Radiology (ACR) in 2007 with profits being reinvested into the ACR Clinical Research Center. Since then the company has initiated projects for more than 30 pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies.

“We have achieved a great deal of success throughout our first two years of operations  as a state-of-the-art core imaging laboratory by focusing on more advanced imaging techniques,” said Mike Morales, ACR Image Metrix general manager.

The company has also expanded its office space and core imaging laboratories. The 10,000 square-foot facility also includes two dedicated learning laboratories designed for researchers to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform advanced imaging techniques.  According to ACR Image Matrex, the core imaging laboratory has evolved to include a focus on the increasing challenges associated with advanced imaging capabilities in imaging clinical research today. These advanced imaging techniques include DCE-MRI, diffusion weighted/tensor imaging, FDG and FLT-PET.

As debate simmers over how best to regulate AI, experts continue to offer guidance on where to start, how to proceed and what to emphasize. A new resource models its recommendations on what its authors call the “SETO Loop.”

FDA Commissioner Robert Califf, MD, said the clinical community needs to combat health misinformation at a grassroots level. He warned that patients are immersed in a "sea of misinformation without a compass."

With generative AI coming into its own, AI regulators must avoid relying too much on principles of risk management—and not enough on those of uncertainty management.
