Philips Healthcare and Therapeutic Monitoring Systems are collaborating to integrate clinical decision support (CDS) software, being developed by Ottawa-based Therapeutic Monitoring, into Philips' cardiopulmonary monitors.

Following integration, the CDS-enabled cardiopulmonary monitors will be used in a pilot program at the Ottawa Hospital’s intensive care unit, said the North Andover, Mass.-based Philips. Researchers from the the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute hope the cardiopulmonary monitors are able to reduce patient time spent on mechanical ventilation, prevent ventilator-related complications and improve patient comfort.
