KLAS: Medical device integration systems vendor scorecard in virtual dead heat

Three vendors dominate the market for medical device integration systems (MDIS). All score high in customer-satisfaction surveying, and none stands head over shoulders above the other two in overall care-improvement and cost-reduction performance.

That’s according to a new report from KLAS, the healthcare product reviewer, which solicited feedback from 74 healthcare providers on the performance of Capsule’s DataCaptor, Cerner’s iBus and iSirona’s DeviceConX.

In “Medical Device Integration 2012: Proven Connections,” released Feb. 7, KLAS reports that 66 percent of respondents reported that MDIS-enabled automation “saves time and provides the ability to make more informed decisions concerning patient care using the tools and the trending data that MDIS technology captures and presents.”

The report also shows that, in performance scoring, less than two points separate the highest and lowest scoring vendor (iSirona’s 89.8 to Capsule’s 88.1).

The report goes into specifics on each of the three vendors and their respective products, according to a Feb. 14 news release from the Orem, Utah-based company.
