Humana’s digital health hub ramping up new projects
Health insurance giant Humana is hoping to make its new digital health hub in Boston look and feel like a technology startup. Over the past six months, the digital health branch, led by Heather Cox, has hired 75 developers in Boston, CNBC reported.
The new team is building out a virtual primary care service with a telemedicine platform, Dr. on Demand. The project is scheduled to launch for small Medicare plans in 2020, CNBC reported. The new digital initiatives will likely help Humana leverage its large home care business. The company acquired Kindred at Home last year.
The new branch in Boston will also likely ramp up even more––Humana received a tax credit of $225,000 from Massachusetts to create up to 300 new jobs over the next five years.
