Cerner adopts Nirvanix cloud technology

Nirvanix of San Diego, said that Cerner will deploy as part of its Skybox Storage technology, an on-demand managed storage service based on a Nirvanix’s private cloud storage technology.

Skybox Storage gives clients the ability to consolidate PACs, radiology, lab, clinical systems and patient records into a cloud storage environment.

Cerner has deployed a multi-petabyte scalable private node of cloud storage located in its data centers as a service by Nirvanix.  Its’ Cloud File System gives Cerner’s healthcare clients access to content regardless of location.

With Nirvanix’s cloud storage technology, Cerner can offer its clients enterprise-grade cloud storage for data availability. The technology supports millions of users and billions of objects, with built-in software capabilities for continuous data consistency and a self-healing cloud that performs continuous data integrity checks on all stored files and repairs any corrupt files.
