Most Republicans support Medicare for all

While many GOP leaders have demonized a Medicare for all policy popularized by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), many Republicans are actually supportive of such a proposal, according to a recent poll by HillTV and the HarrisX polling company.

More than half of Republicans polled (52 percent) said they supported a single-payer healthcare system known as Medicare for all, while 48 percent were opposed.

The poll comes as more Democrats are supporting the idea, which has been estimated to cost $32.6 trillion over a decade.

President Trump has been among the most vocal opponents to the idea, penning an op-ed that slammed the proposal and stated people would lose Medicare altogether.
