ONC publishes wave six of 2014 draft test procedures

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) released wave six of the draft test procedures for the 2014 edition of EHR certification criteria and is inviting the public to comment.

The procedures, scheduled to be finalized and published in early 2013, are intended for use by testing laboratories and certification bodies authorized by the ONC HIT Program to validate EHR systems’ compliance with standards established by the Department of Health and Human Services. Wave five of the draft test procedures were published Oct. 18.

Public comments on the wave six draft test procedures are welcome through the two weeks following their publication date, Nov. 2. Specific criterion are listed on the ONC website and include:

  • Automated numerator recording;
  • Automated measure calculation;
  • Capture and export clinical quality measures;
  • Import and calculate clinical quality measures; and
  • Electronic submission of clinical quality measures.
