NYC provider organizations enter pay-for-performance arrangement

The New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation entered a pay-for-performance agreement with two medical schools and one private provider organization that will award up to $59 million to providers for meeting quality and efficiency targets.

The Mount Sinai School of Medicine, the New York University School of Medicine and the Physician Affiliate Group of New York will be eligible for bonus payments for exceeding benchmarks established by entities such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the National Committee for Quality Assurance, according to a Jan. 12 statement. Bonus payments will be issued to the provider organizations for achieving higher patient satisfaction survey scores, reducing hospital readmission rates and reducing average lengths of hospitalizations.
