Jon White named ONC acting deputy national coordinator

Jon White, who joined the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) as acting chief medical officer in October, will now assume the role of acting deputy national coordinator.

White, who provides some consultation to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, will serve in both ONC roles simultaneously, according to an agency staff email from National Coordinator Karen DeSalvo, MD, MsC, MPH. In addition to these roles, White serves as ONC’s interim lead for the Office of Clinical Quality and Safety.

White’s professional experience includes hundreds of projects in 48 states, including research, demonstration and implementation projects on a variety of health IT programs, DeSalvo wrote in her email. In his role, he will be “supporting the national coordinator in the critically important day-to-day work of ONC, management of senior staff and executive oversight for the activities of all ONC offices.”
