ICD-10 coalition grows again

The Healthcare Leadership Council , a coalition of healthcare chief executives from all disciplines within the U.S. healthcare industry, is the latest organization to join the Coalition for ICD-10 and advocate for U.S. adoption of the ICD-10 coding standard in 2015.

The Coalition for ICD-10 promotes the critical importance of ICD-10 to improving quality measurement, public health surveillance, clinical research and healthcare payment through research, education and advocacy, according to a release.

“Delays are increasing the cost of implementation and hindering the healthcare system from moving forward," said Mary Grealy, HLC president. "In this age of big data and data analytics, and an increased push for quality and efficiency, the use of codes with greater specificity is more important than ever. This is a necessary transition that aligns with the vision we have for the future of U.S. healthcare.”

This marks the 21st member of the coalition.
