Biden pushes for hospitals, providers, scientists to provide access to open data

Vice President Joe Biden spoke at Health Datapalooza in Washington, D.C. this week, emphasizing that his “moonshot” of curing cancer is “a matter of life and death.”

Biden used his appearance as an opportunity to ask for more hospitals, healthcare providers, and scientists to provide open access to their data, Healthcare IT News reported.

"We have to ask ourselves, why are we not progressing more rapidly?" Biden said. "While our government can do a great deal, this is not the work of the government alone. We all have to work together to make progress."
