AHIMA appoints new president for 2013
Kathleen A. Frawley, JD, MS, was elected by members of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) to serve as president and chair of the organization’s board of directors for 2013. She assumed the role on Jan. 1.
A former vice president of legislative and public policy for AHIMA, Frawley is currently professor and chair of the health IT program at DeVry University in North Brunswick, N.J. Patty Thierry Sheridan, MBS, the outgoing president and chair, will continue to serve on the board of directors.
In addition to Frawley’s appointment, several others were also made:
Angela Kennedy, EdD, MBA, MEd, a chairman of the department of health informatics and information management at Louisiana Tech was appointed president and chair elect;
Kimberly Baldwin-Stried Reich, MBA, compliance manager and care management coordinator at the Lake County Physicians’ Association, was appointed speaker of the house;
Susan W. Carey, system director of health information management for Norton healthcare; was appointed to the board of directors;
Dana C. McWay, JD, clerk of courts for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, was appointed to the board of directors; and
Cindy Zak, MS, corporate director of health information management at Yale New Haven Health, was appointed to the board of directors.
