Under Armour buys MyFitnessPal, Endomondo for $560 million
Sports apparel maker Under Armour is continuing its push into the quantification of fitness and health with the acquisition of fitness apps MyFitnessPal for $475 million and Endomondo for $85 million. The Baltimore-based company had bought MapMyFitness in 2013 and introduced its own app, UA Record, at International CES last month.
As the Baltimore Sun reports, UA Record is intented to be a data dashboard for the other three products—as well as the Armour39 sports biometric sensor—which will be marketed collectively as Connected Fitness. MyFitnessPal in particular is sitting on a large storehouse of data from its 80 million registered users.
