Healthcare has its share of ups and downs but some factors weigh more heavily on the minds of executives than others. referralMD has compiled a list of C-suite executives on what keeps them up at night.

Entries especially noteworthy for those involved in healthcare technology include:

  • The number of patients affected by data breaches increased from 1.8 million to 110 million between 2014 and 2015.
  • While 91 percent of healthcare organizations use cloud services, only 47 percent are confident they are able to protect data.
  • Only 41 percent of hospitals in 2013 were able to send and receive secure electronic messages of patient data to and from external sources.
  • Health systems report an average of 55 to 65 percent referral leakage.
  • 80 percent of all medical errors are caused my miscommunication during care transitions.
