Six more states to challenge healthcare reform

Six states have joined Florida's lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

Iowa, Ohio, Kansas, Wyoming, Wisconsin and Maine were added to the suit in a motion filed by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi this week, bringing the total to 26 states.

“Also challenging that law in a separate lawsuit is Virginia, and Oklahoma has announced its intention to do the same,” stated the release from Bondi’s office.

The Florida lawsuit challenges not only the PPACA’s requirement that individuals purchase health insurance or face a penalty, but also its Medicaid expansion.
