Safety-net hospitals perform well financially even without Medicaid expansion

Safety-net hospitals in several states that did not expand Medicaid still performed well financially last year, Kaiser Health News reports.

The analysis found an improving economy and an increase in the number of insured people. However, safety-net hospitals that serve a disproportionate of poor people will see a significant decrease in Medicaid funding starting in October 2016.
