How to reduce healthcare costs? Give Americans a ‘purpose in life’

Researchers are suggesting that giving Americans a sense of purpose can help reduce U.S. healthcare costs, according to Los Angeles Times.

University of Michigan and University of Wisconsin researchers wondered whether it’s possible to increase the number of patients seeking preventive healthcare services by boosting their purpose in life, which they define as “having meaning, a sense of direction and goals to live for.”
