Hospital prices fall for first time
For the first time since the federal government began collecting data, the aggregate price of acute-care hospital care declined in January compared with the previous January, Modern Healthcare reports.
During that time period, there was a 2.9 percent decrease in Medicare rates for hospital care, a 0.1 percent decline in Medicaid prices and a 1.6 percent increase in prices paid by private health plans and other payers. In aggregate, the decline was 0.1 percent.
