HHS launches behavioral health data visualization challenge
The Department of Health & Human Services has launched VizRisk, its first-ever behavioral health data visualization challenge.
“Its goal is to foster increased utilization, innovation and critical analyses of publically available but underutilized government health data to better inform personal and health policy decisions,” according to a July 21 Federal Register notice.
The three-month challenge, scheduled from July 28 to Oct. 28, welcomes U.S. designers, coders, data scientists, public health experts and others to analyze, organize and visualize behavioral health risk data. Participants will utilize the Center for Disease Control’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data, as well as other publicly available government datasets to reveal key insights, trends and relationships, according to the announcement.
Winners will be chosen in four categories: innovation, relevance, design and scientific excellence.
Awards are scheduled to be announced on Nov. 30. More information is here.
