Health insurers expect drop in Medicare revenue next year
Humana and Aetna expect their Medicare Advantage funding to decrease in 2016, the Wall Street Journal reports.
In a draft call letter and advanced rate notice on Feb. 20, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services proposed decreasing payments per beneficiary to Medicare Advantage organizations in 2016 by an average of 0.95 percent.
The proposed decrease will affect insurers. Humana expects Medicare Advantage funding to decrease by 1.25 percent to 1.75 percent, and Aetna expects its funding to decrease by 1 percent.
