Clearwater launches HIPAA navigator

Clearwater Compliance has released Clearwater HIPAA Security Assessment, an interactive web-based navigator designed to assist organizations that handle electronic protected health information (PHI) in their HIPAA compliance efforts.

HIPAA compliance has become a fundamental risk management issue for executives in all organizations that create, receive, maintain or transmit PHI, according to Clearwater Compliance, of Nashville, Tenn.

The navigator tool simplifies the initial compliance assessment process, which covers 22 security standards and 53 implementation specifications through step-by-step guidance, the company added.

The Clearwater HIPAA Security Assessment leads users through a series of interview questions regarding the current state of an organization’s HIPAA compliance. The application puts their responses into executive-level dashboards, providing a snapshot of current compliance levels and a tool to measure ongoing progress.

The navigator automatically populates a risk remediation plan, outlining corrective steps that need to be taken once the compliance assessment is completed, stated Clearwater Compliance.
