Oscar Health COO stepping down

Oscar Health’s Chief Operating Officer Meghan Joyce is resigning from her role, effective April 10.

The news was announced in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Oscar Health, based in New York, is a technology-forward healthcare company founded by Joshua Kushner and Mario Schlosser. The company went public in 2021 and has made several major partnerships with other healthcare insurance players, such as Cigna.

Joyce, who also served as executive vice president of platform at Oscar, is leaving the company to become CEO of a new venture, the document states. The +Oscar technology platform and business line will report directly to co-founder and CEO, Mario Schlosser, after Joyce’s departure. In addition, Chief Insurance Officer Alessandrea Quane will assume oversight of insurance operations.

Joyce has entered into a consulting agreement with Oscar Health and its subsidiary, Oscar Management Corporation, in which she will continue to support the company. She will receive a monthly consulting fee of $8,333, but will not be entitled to an annual bonus award for the company’s performance year 2022 and thereafter.

The company offers insurance for individuals, families, small group plans (in partnership with Cigna), and Medicare Advantage plans.

The company offers members of its plans virtual urgent and primary care, where the member can talk to or message a doctor and get a diagnosis, a new prescription, or a prescription refill in about 30 minutes. Oscar's virtual urgent care program allows members to talk to a doctor about urgent health issues for free, anytime 24-hours a day. This can help eliminate some trips to a doctor's office, so it eliminates copays and lowers healthcare costs.
