ONC decertifies two versions of SkyCare

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT has terminated the certification of two EHR products that were being used to meet the requirements of the EHR Incentive Programs, saying the products no longer meet ONC Health IT Certification Program requirements.

After failing to respond to and participate in routine surveillance requests by an ONC-authorized certification body, two versions of Platinum Health Information System's SkyCare 4.2 EHR lost their certifications.

Under ONC Health IT Certification Program requirements, all EHRs must be certified by an ONC-ACB before providers can use them to attest to Meaningful Use.

"We take our responsibility to provide appropriate oversight of certified EHR products seriously and have every expectation that users will have systems that meet the technological capabilities and requirements adopt by HHS and will take action accordingly," said National Coordinator Karen DeSalvo, MD, MPH, MSc.
