Mercy CMIO will wear two hats

John Kennedy, MD, has been named vice president for medical affairs at Mercy Hospital Fairfield and also CMIO for Mercy Health Partners.

In his role as VP of medical affairs, Kennedy will work closely with the medical staff to continue building strong alignment with the Fairfield, Ohio hospital’s focus on patient care and the patient experience. As CMIO for Mercy Health Partners, his key responsibilities will include overseeing the integration of EMRs throughout the healthcare network.

Mercy has implemented EMRs in its Mercy Medical Associates physician practices and many of its area hospitals, including Mercy Hospital Anderson, Mercy Hospital Clermont and Mercy Hospital Fairfield, the organization said.

Kennedy received his medical degree as well as a Master of Health Administration from Ohio State University and is board-certified in psychiatry. For the past four and a half years, he has been CMO at the Lindner Center of Hope in Mason, Ohio. He has also held several positions associated with the University of Cincinnati, including nine years as executive director of the Institute for Psychiatry and Law at the UC College of Medicine.

Kennedy replaces Dan Roth, MD, who recently became the CMIO for Catholic Health Partners, Mercy’s parent organization.
