A Massachusetts-based provider recently announced layoffs of 130 employees at three hospitals for budget issues that stem from the cost of its EHR implementation.
A Boston Business Journal interview with Joanne Conroy, MD, CEO of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, revealed that the system lost $21 million during the six months ended March 31. Lahey is completing a two-year process of implementing an Epic EHR and patient portal that costs $160 million.
