Kaiser's EHR rollout complete across all facilities

Kaiser Permanente has reported that every medical facility within the health system is now equipped with its KP HealthConnect, a private-sector EHR system.

Kaiser's hospitals in Oakland, Richmond and Vallejo in Northern California are the most recent facilities to complete the final phase of EHR implementation, which includes bedside documentation, clinical decision support and bar-coding for medication administration.

The provider also said its KP HealthConnect connects more than 8.6 million people to their physicians, nurses, pharmacists and personal information, as well as helps facilitate collaborate among both primary and specialty care teams.

Also, Kaiser said its My Health Manager on www.kp.org provides access to a personal health record that includes shared access to the KP HealthConnect clinical record and tools. Through My Health Manager, the health system said its members have access to their lab test results, medication information, refill capabilities, summaries of their health conditions and other important health information.

More than 3 million Kaiser members are using My Health Manager, with more than 27 million logins to the system documented in 2009 alone, according to Kaiser.
