Vital Images showcased its Vitrea Enterprise Suite at HIMSS10 last week in Atlanta, which allows nurses and referring physicians to access imaging data from home or in their office via the web-based suite, and clinicians to use the suite as a planning tool when preparing for cases.

“Imaging is 30 percent of the EMR today in terms of the data coming into it and Vital is able to give access to it with one single platform across an enterprise,” said Michael H. Carrel, president and CEO of Minnetonka, Minn.-based Vital.

The web-based Vitrea suite can be integrated with multiple PACS systems, according to the company. “For integration into EMR systems, our system integrates seamlessly and quickly to have not only a 2D platform but beyond that. Our Vitrea Enterprise Suite gives access to 2D, 3D and 4D applications we provide including analytic tools; giving access to all referring physicians to deep clinical data,” stated Carrel.

He said the company was gaining interest in areas in the hospital outside the radiology department because more and more physicians want access to the imaging data that Vital provides.

“With the Vitrea suite, you’re saving time, money and giving better patient care because you’re allowing the clinicians to access to better clinical data,” Carrel said.
