HIMSS signs national partnership with Netics to evaluate EMR adoption of Italian healthcare providers

Berlin, 19th May 2015: HIMSS Europe has signed a national partnership agreement with Nectics to improve the level of digital maturity in healthcare organizations across Italy.

HIMSS Europe will work with Netics to provide its Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM), which tracks healthcare organizations' progress towards achieving a paperless patient record environment. Hospitals and ambulatory care facilities are scored based on their level of an EMR adoption from Stage 0 through Stage 7.

Jörg Studzinski, Senior Consultant at HIMSS Analytics Europe said: “The signed partnership with Netics aims to bring together the two healthcare activities that each entity does best:  the HIMSS EMRAM, a globally recognised model that analyzes digital maturity and highlights the benefits achieved by the adoption of IT in the healthcare sector,  and the strong Italian healthcare knowledge which Netics holds.”

The early stages of the partnership will see acute public and private hopsitals across Italy  complete the EMRAM survey, which will subsequently enable Chief Information Officers (CIOs) to compare the effectiveness of their digital maturity with their peers and to strategize their path to a complete EMR which enables more financial and clinical benefits.

AISIS (Italian Association of Information Systems in Health), an organization that aims to give visibility to those who are professionally involved in ICT and to raise the profile of issues related to the use of ICT in healthcare as a strategic lever for change, will also work with HIMSS to distribute the EMRAM survey among CIOs across the country and collate their feedback.

Claudio Caccia, President of AISIS said: “The decision to adopt EMRAM as a tool for benchmarking information systems across Italian healthcare system is due to an increased focus by AISIS and Netics in recent years to better understand the value of information systems in health care while providing comparisons at an international level.”

Paolo Colli Franzone, Director, Netics, added: ““We are honored that HIMSS has chosen to collaborate with us as an Italian partner, recognizing the strong competence which distinguishes us in the eHealth consulting market.”

Cardiovascular devices are more likely to be in a Class I recall than any other device type. The FDA's approval process appears to be at least partially responsible, though the agency is working to make some serious changes. We spoke to a researcher who has been tracking these data for years to learn more.

Updated compensation data includes good news for multiple subspecialties. The new report also examines private equity's impact on employment models and how much male cardiologists earn compared to females.

When drugs are on the FDA’s shortage list, outsourcing facilities can produce their own compounded versions. When the FDA removed tirzepatide from that list with no warning, it created a considerable amount of chaos both behind the scenes and in pharmacies all over the country.
