Google joins PwC team seeking DoD $11B contract
Google has officially joined the fray of companies hoping to snag the Department of Defense’s $11 billion contract to modernize its healthcare management systems.
PwC has announced that Google has joined its team in the bid for the Department of Defense Healthcare Management Systems Modernization EHR contract—which entails replacing and modernizing a system that supports more than 9.7 million beneficiaries.
Other members of PwC’s team include DSS and Medsphere Systems, MedicaSoft and systems integrator General Dynamics Information Technology. Together, they “offer the DoD a distinctive, reliable and secure open source EHR solution with innovative, user-friendly operations,” according to a press release.
"Google is known for its expertise in innovative, secure and open technologies, and the power of Internet scale. Their capabilities can complement our proposed open-architecture solution and bring added value, agility and flexibility to the new Military Health System," said Scott McIntyre, PwC's global and U.S. public sector Leader, in a statement. "Google can assist us in delivering a cost-effective and efficient solution to serve the healthcare needs of our military."
