EHNAC to Host Industry Forum for Health Information Service Providers focusing on Direct Protocol, Meaningful Use Stage 2
FARMINGTON, Conn. -- The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC), a non-profit standards development organization and accrediting body, will host a free webinar to discuss the impact of the Direct Protocol on health information service providers (HISP), certificate authorities (CA) and registration authorities (RA) and the need for compliance to achieve Meaningful Use Stage 2 measures. The webinar, “A Closer Look at Direct Protocol: Exploring the Impact and Connection to Meaningful Use Stage 2 Implementation,” is scheduled for 1-2:30 p.m. EDT Thursday, May 30, 2013.
Host Lee Barrett, executive director of EHNAC, will be joined by a panel of executives experienced in the Direct protocol, which includes secure exchange of trust bundles and authentication of stakeholders. This panel includes:
- David C. Kibbe MD MBA, president/CEO, DirectTrust
- Andy Heeren, director CERN Network IP, Cerner Corp.
- Don Jorgenson, CEO, Inpriva
- Ron Moser, senior auditor, EHNAC
- Claudia Williams, director of state health information exchange program, The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) (invited)
The expert panel will cover how organizations can assure HISP-to-HISP interoperability and scalable trust; the significant differences between EHR technology software certification and security/trust accreditation for HISPs, CAs and RAs who partner with EHRs; as well as ways to reduce PHI exposure risks. Additionally, best practice examples of how to facilitate security, interoperability and trust among Direct exchange participants will be discussed. The group will likewise outline how organizations can prepare for implementation of secure communications in support of Meaningful Use requirements by the ONC.
“Following the ONC’s recent support of governance for health information exchange, a spotlight has been aimed at the operations of HISPs, CAs and RAs,” says Barrett. “It’s vital for each of these stakeholders to take measures to ensure the privacy, security and trust in their operations as the regulatory nature of the industry continues to transform.”
An open forum will follow the panel discussion to allow attendees to submit questions specific to their own organizations. Those interested in attending may register for the webinar here or visit www.ehnac.org for more information.
