CMS releases attestation aids

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released several resources to help eligible professionals (EPs), eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAHs) navigate CMS’ web-based attestation system as well as other steps in the process for receiving Medicare EHR incentive payments.

The resources include:

  • An attestation page on the CMS EHR website, where participants in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program can find important information on attestation.
  • A Meaningful Use Attestation Calculator, which allows EPs and eligible hospitals to check whether they have met meaningful use guidelines before they attest in the system. The calculator prints a copy of each EP’s or eligible hospital’s specific measure summary.
  • User guides that provide step-by-step guidance for EPs and eligible hospitals on navigating the attestation system.

Additional EHR incentive aids are on the way, including worksheets for EPs and eligible hospitals that will allow users to fill out their meaningful use measure values, providing a quick reference tool to use while attesting, according to CMS.
