CCHIT authorized to test, certify EHRs for 2014 ONC program

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) has authorized the Certification Commission for Health IT (CCHIT) to both test and certify EHRs through the 2014 edition of the ONC health IT certification program.

According to certification requirements, EHR vendors must have their products tested with an accredited testing laboratory and then certified by an authorized certification body. CCHIT serves as both, and has recently updated its testing procedures and certification materials to comply with the ONC 2014 edition, according to a Jan. 11 statement.

Vendors can apply for the program on the CCHIT website
