Allscripts, Merge align for image enhanced' EHRs

Healthcare IT developer Allscripts has selected Merge Healthcare's Cedara WebAccess software application to "image enhance" Allscripts' EHR solutions.

The standards-based viewer makes images from x-ray, MRI and CT scans available through a Web browser.

Designed for interoperability across healthcare enterprises, Cedara WebAccess provides integration without data duplication or the need for proprietary integrations with individual IT systems, according to the Milwaukee-based Merge. It uses a zero-footprint deployment approach, which minimizes IT maintenance and hardware needs, "unclogs" data networks by sending smaller files and helps with privacy regulations by ensuring that patient data is not stored on user machines, Merge said.
