ONC seeks info to guide rule making for NwHIN

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) has issued a request for information (RFI) to request public comment on draft proposals it's considering in anticipation of developing a notice of proposed rulemaking to establish a governance mechanism for the nationwide health information network (NwHIN).

Published May 15 in the Federal Register, the agency requested information on a broad range of topics including the creation of a voluntary program under which entities that facilitate electronic health information exchange could be validated with respect to their conformance to certain ONC-established conditions for trusted exchange, the scope and requirement included in the initial conditions for trusted exchanges and processes that could be used to revise, adopt new and retire conditions.

Comments must be received no later than 5 p.m. 30 days after its publication date of May 15.
