Maine HIE selects Health Language for clinical content integration

HealthInfoNet, the nonprofit organization managing the health information exchange (HIE) for the state of Maine, is partnering with medical terminology management company Health Language to assist in the transition from a two-year demonstration project to a full statewide HIE implementation.

Health Language will support the Maine HIE’s clinical content integration strategy during this expansion, according to the Denver-based Health Language.

HealthInfoNet, based in Portland, Maine, will deploy Health Language’s Language Engine to integrate and manage medical terminologies within healthcare applications that are accessible to clinicians connected to the Maine HIE.

Language Engine will provide access to current versions of clinical and administrative code sets to allow incorporation and mapping of local content to standards, access to current versions of more than 100 clinical and administrative code sets, and allows incorporation and mapping of local content to standards, the company stated.
