Alaska eHealth Network to deploy Orion Health HIE

The Alaska eHealth Network (AeHN) has selected health IT services company Orion Health as its primary technology provider for Alaska's statewide health information exchange (HIE) and will deploy its Health Information Exchange product.

AeHN tapped Orion to establish the statewide electronic exchange for moving EHRs and related healthcare information, connecting healthcare providers across the state. The program will seek to create a system to track chronic disease across the state, coordinate care programs and improve patient health, the Santa Monica, Calif.-based Orion stated.

AeHN plans to deploy a pilot program in early 2011 with four Alaska hospitals and associated clinics participating in the exchange of authorized medical information.
