UK NHS experiences ransomware cyberattack

A cyberattack on the National Health Services in the United Kingdom spread into many parts of the country. While there are reports that patient information has not been accessed, the hack is being identified through tweets and images of the ransomware used.

Hospitals in the north, southwest and south of England have reported being effected by the hack. East and North Hertfordshire NHS reported IT problems as a result of the attack.

The investigation is at an early stage but we believe the malware variant is Wanna Decryptor,” a spokesperson said. “At this stage, we do not have any evidence that patient data has been accessed. We will continue to work with affected organizations to confirm this.”
