Oneida Nation suffers data breach
The Oneida Nation's Oneida Health Center in Wisconsin has reported a data breach after a flash drive containing details of patients' dental information was stolen.
The health center reported the theft to law enforcement on Feb. 17, the same day the flash drive was stolen.
The flash drive has not been recovered and contains names, dental patient identification numbers, dates of visits and the dental insurance identification numbers of 2,700 patients that visited the health center between Feb. 7 and Feb. 17.
There is no evidence to suggest that the compromised information was used or disclosed in an inappropriate manner, according to the organization. They said they plan to review and implement administrative procedures and technological safeguards regarding flash drive use.
