HITRUST guidance assesses providers’ cybersecurity preparedness
The Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST) recently announced the release of new guidance for healthcare providers wishing to assess their level of preparedness for cybersecurity threats. This guidance incorporates a specific subset of controls within the HITRUST Community Security Framework (CSF) that relate to cybersecurity.
The release of the guidelines follows the February establishment of a HITRUST working group devoted to developing frameworks to prevent cyber attacks and intrusions (see story). The group was formed after a Feb. 12 White House Cybersecurity Executive Order called for enhanced government and industry collaboration against ongoing cyber threats.
The working group plans to meet at HITRUST’s annual conference in May to finalize the guidance following a review of industry comments. View the guidance here.
