Hackers source of Utah clinic breach affecting 30K
Hackers accessed a Utah clinic's server in a potential data breach impacting more than 30,000 patients.
Central Utah Clinic in Provo is notifying the patients after discovering that the hackers initially accessed the server on Oct. 9, 2012. The clinic did not learn of the breach, however, until June 9, 2014, according to the hospital's breach notification. The server has since been isolated.
Compromised data may include names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, addresses and phone numbers from some written imaging and radiology reports, but there is no indication that any personal information was viewed or copied to an unauthorized location, according to the notification.
