Frawley named AHIMA's president-elect for 2012

Members of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) have elected Kathleen Frawley, JD, MS, RHIA, as the association's president-elect for 2012.

She is associate professor and chair of health IT at DeVry University in North Brunswick, N.J.

Frawley will begin her term as president-elect on Jan. 1, 2012 and ascends to the office of AHIMA president on Jan. 1, 2013.

AHIMA also announced the elections of three new members to its board of directors:
  • Ann Frischkorn Chenoweth, MBA, RHIA, senior director of industry relations and market research for 3M Health Information Systems.
  • Dwayne M. Lewis, RHIT, CCS, president and CEO of DML Consulting headquartered in Broken Arrow, Okla.
  • Melissa M. Martin, RHIA, CCS, health information management director and chief privacy officer at West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, W. Va.

The incoming AHIMA board members will take office with Frawley on Jan. 1, 2012. Elected by the association’s members, each board director serves a three-year term. The board is responsible for setting long-term strategy and direction, governing the association’s activities, and fulfilling the organization’s fiduciary responsibility.
