55K affected by employee's data theft

It's another inside job. In July, a former CVS Health employee inappropriately accessed the data of a California healthcare organization, compromising the information of 54,203 patients.

CVS is the over-the-counter benefits vendor for the Long Beach, Calif.-based provider.

The employee Molina Healthcare, based in Long Beach, Calif., a former CVS employee inappropriately accessed protected health information of Molina Medicare Options Plus HMO patients in March.

In March, the former CVS employee emailed protected health information of the affected Molina Medicare Options Plus HMO patients to his personal computer. The breach affects both current and past members of Molina Health in California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
