Apple in talks with VA to give vets access to electronic medical records

Apple is reportedly in talks with the Department of Veterans Affairs to give military veterans access to electronic health records, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The partnership could potentially bring Apple millions of new customers while simplifying hospital visits, according to the WSJ. Approximately 9 million veterans could transfer their health records to iPhones under the plans, which include Apple creating special software tools and provisions for engineering support to the VA.

The partnership is in alignment with Apple’s recent entry into the electronic health records field and its other steps into the healthcare space.
