Royal Philips launches AI-focused incubator program

Health technology company Royal Philips has launched its global incubator program for startup companies looking to apply artificial intelligence (AI)-based solutions into healthcare.

The company announced the launch of the program on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The 12-week program will feature 19 different AI startup companies from 14 different countries. The incubator will focus on the application of AI in healthcare, and more specifically, on the application of AI-based clinical decision support tools. The startups were chosen from 750 applicants.

Philips plans to work with each company in “validating their propositions, helping to build, test and scale their ideas, and exploring possible collaborations.”

“We are already working closely with clinical partners to develop AI-enabled solutions that are grounded in scientific research and validated in clinical practice,” Philips Healthworks Head Alberto Prado said in a statement. “This new collaboration program recognizes the role that start-up companies play in bringing breakthrough healthcare innovations to the market.”
