National Decision Support Company Content Delivery Platform Exceeds 200,000 Monthly Decision Support Transactions

ANDOVER, Mass.Nov. 30, 2014-- National Decision Support Company (NDSC) today announced that ACR Select is accessed more than 200,000 times per month by healthcare providers when placing orders for imaging exams. Rapid nationwide adoption of the company's content delivery platform is fueling this growth and supported by NDSC's streamlined approach to make Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) easy to access and consume by ordering physicians within their EHR workflow.

"Ensuring physicians have a positive experience with AUC is critical to adoption," said Bob Cooke, VP of Marketing, NDSC. "Our experience in delivering AUC to ordering physicians has revealed foundational principles for success.  For example, clinical scenarios commonly encountered by physicians must be readily available, AUC must integrate directly into the physician workflow, and feedback must only be presented when required."

This level of activity and adoption is a direct validation of NDSC's approach. During a decision support encounter, physicians are only required to select a clinical scenario from a structured list. Once doing so, the physician is presented with feedback only when required and offered the opportunity to revise the imaging order with minimal interaction. "Physicians who order imaging tests have enough buttons to click and our mission is to not add to this burden," said Cooke.

NDSC continues to expand its client roster with new healthcare organizations adopting ACR Select every week.

The company has also completed its first commercial integration of ACR Select with Cerner's electronic health record (EHR). "Our current order entry process had no provision for clinical decision making and we needed a means to assess the quality and appropriateness of our imaging orders," said Larry Bonno, Administrative Director of Medical Imaging, Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center. "Working directly with NDSC to integrate the content into our EHR provides Banner Healthcare with a tool to assess and continuously improve the quality of our imaging services."

NDSC will be demonstrating its latest developments at RSNA 2014, booth #5504, November 30 – December 4, 2014Chicago, IL.
